Position Summary\n
\n The Commercial HVAC Senior Service Manager is responsible for leading a team of service managers, supervisors, and commercial HVAC technicians while overseeing the daily operations of a busy service department. This position plays a key role in driving customer satisfaction, operational excellence, financial performance, employee development, and workplace safety.\n
\n
\n The ideal candidate has extensive commercial HVAC service management experience and a strong background in commercial chiller operations. Previous experience as a Chiller Technician, Chiller Service Manager, or leading teams responsible for servicing and maintaining commercial chiller systems is required. This leader should have a passion for coaching teams, building long-term customer relationships, and driving operational excellence.\n
Key Responsibilities\n

  • Lead, mentor, and develop service managers, supervisors, and commercial HVAC technicians.
  • \n
  • Oversee the daily operations of the commercial HVAC service department while ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and local building codes.
  • \n
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, coach, and develop employees while fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
  • \n
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing coaching, and address employee relations matters as needed.
  • \n
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships by ensuring exceptional service, responsiveness, and communication.
  • \n
  • Partner with customers and internal teams to identify opportunities for additional service work, preventive maintenance agreements, and long-term customer partnerships.
  • \n
  • Monitor key performance indicators including revenue, profitability, labor utilization, technician productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • \n
  • Review work orders, timesheets, and operational reports to improve efficiency and maximize department performance.
  • \n
  • Assist with customer issue resolution, invoice questions, and accounts receivable support.
  • \n
  • Promote a culture of safety by conducting regular safety meetings, field observations, and incident investigations.
  • \n
  • Participate in the leadership on-call rotation as required.
  • \n
Qualifications\n
    \n
  • Minimum of 7 years of commercial HVAC service management experience.
  • \n
  • Required: Previous commercial chiller experience as a Chiller Technician, Chiller Service Manager, or in a leadership role overseeing commercial chiller operations.
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, commercial chillers, MEP operations, service delivery, and applicable building codes.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated success leading service teams while managing operational and financial performance.
  • \n
  • Strong financial and operational business acumen with the ability to drive revenue and profitability.
  • \n
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and customer relationship management skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical schematics.
  • \n
  • Required industry licenses or certifications applicable to commercial HVAC operations.
  • \n
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • \n
Preferred Experience\n
    \n
  • Experience leading commercial HVAC service teams of 20+ technicians and supervisors.
  • \n
  • Proven success managing departmental P&L, budgets, labor utilization, and operational performance.
  • \n
  • Experience supporting large commercial, healthcare, higher education, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or data center facilities.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated ability to grow service revenue, maintenance agreement portfolios, and long-term customer relationships.
  • \n
  • Experience implementing technician development, coaching, performance management, and safety initiatives.
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC controls, chilled water systems, central plants, and preventive maintenance programs.
