OBGYN Laborist

Position Overview:
Our organization, a leading academic medical center focused on patient-centered care, is recognized nationally for its excellence in clinical services, biomedical research, and medical education.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is on the lookout for a Laborist to become part of our dynamic Faculty Group Practice (FGP) located in Manhattan. This practice caters to a diverse patient base, managing both low and high-risk pregnancies, with around 2,500 deliveries annually at our Tisch Hospital campus.

In the role of Laborist, you will be instrumental in delivering outstanding inpatient care for individuals requiring obstetric admission. We are in search of a candidate who possesses excellent communication skills, is dedicated to patient safety and quality, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity, multi-disciplinary clinical environment.

Inpatient Coverage:

• Deliver comprehensive inpatient care for FGP patients and those unassigned who need obstetric admission.
• Admit and manage patients in labor, overseeing both routine and complex deliveries, including operative vaginal and cesarean sections.

Triage and Evaluation:

• Assess patients in triage as necessary and facilitate their admission or discharge based on clinical needs.
• Manage postpartum patients, addressing complications related to pregnancy and delivery, providing routine postpartum care, and ensuring timely discharge.

Neonatal Care:

• Conduct neonatal circumcisions as part of standard postpartum care.
• Provide emergency care for patients facing early pregnancy complications.

High-Risk Patient Management:

• Oversee and deliver care for high-risk patients, with 24-hour consultation support from Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists.
• Collaborate with General Ob/Gyn physicians for the primary management of laboring patients, unless otherwise coordinated with Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Quality and Safety Standards:

• Uphold the highest standards of evidence-based obstetric care.
• Contribute to departmental and unit quality and safety objectives, including maintaining low primary cesarean delivery rates, minimizing episiotomy rates, and promptly addressing clinical safety concerns.

Operational Workflows and High Reliability Organization (HRO):

• Follow established policies and procedures to improve operational workflows for patient care.
• Promote a High Reliability Organization (HRO) by demonstrating professionalism towards patients, colleagues, and staff.

Committee Involvement:
Engage in committees and meetings focused on departmental growth, resident education, and quality initiatives as needed.

Educational and Research Contributions:
Support the educational and research objectives of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Compensation: The salary for this position ranges from $275,000 to $350,000. This range is applicable for full-time roles and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Qualifications:

• Doctoral Degree (M.D. or D.O.).
• Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Completion of a U.S. Accredited OB/GYN Residency training program.
• Possession of a New York State Medical license.
• A minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
• Excellent communication abilities.
