Special Education Teacher - Shiprock, New Mexico

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting students with individualized educational needs. A contract opportunity is available for a skilled professional to provide dedicated instruction and guidance to three students with Individualized Education Plans over the upcoming academic year. The role spans August 3 to May 19 and offers both virtual and onsite possibilities, with a flexible commitment of approximately 17-18 hours per week (including indirect services).

You will craft tailored academic experiences, lead essential reading and math sessions, and offer strategic oversight to ensure student growth. Your expertise will be crucial in nurturing each learner’s unique strengths in a supportive educational environment.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Valid certification in Special Education (state-appropriate)
• Experience working with K-12 students in a special education setting
• Proficiency with IEP implementation and documentation
• Ability to facilitate learning both individually and in peer groups
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for consultative oversight

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted reading and math instruction as outlined in IEPs
• Schedule and provide direct or oversight services, following time requirements for each student
• Maintain records, track progress, and update IEP goals in collaboration with the district team
• Adapt learning resources and strategies to each student’s needs, both virtually and on-site
• Communicate regularly with support staff and guardians
