\nSUMMARY:\n
\n
\nProvides daily living support and assistance to individuals in one of the agency’s Community Integrated Living Arrangements under the supervision of the CILA Team Leader and with the support of the Supported Living Program Manager.\n
\n
\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\n
\n
\nProvide training and guidance to the residents in Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) in the areas of activities of daily living (example-hygiene), community integration (example-outings) and economic self sufficiency skills (example-accurate recording of financial transactions).\n
\nProvide direct personal care or oversight as needed.\n
\nProvide excellent customer service to residents and families and maintain positive relationships and lines of communication.\n
\nEnsures resident medication needs are met by monitoring and documenting medication regimen. Brings any health issues to the supervisor’s attention.\n
\nWorks with and participates in the community in order to assist residents in utilizing resources and developing natural supports. Includes providing client transportation.\n
\nCompletes all required documentation.\n
\nPrepares and/or utilizes basic household necessities such as food, program supplies, and cleaning supplies, and is responsible for the overall appearance of the home, including daily housekeeping tasks.\n
\nFollow and maintain all safety procedures and participate in safety drills.\n
\n

\nQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:\n

\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:\n
\n
\nMust have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Experience working in a residential setting with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.\n
\n
\nLANGUAGE SKILLS:\n
\n
\nAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and simple correspondence. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents and other employees of the organization.\n
\n
\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS:\n
\n
\nAbility to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to compute percentages.\n
\n
\nREASONING ABILITY:\n
\n
\nAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.\n
\n
\nCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:\n
\n
\nMust have a valid driver's license and valid auto insurance.\n
\n
\nOTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:\n
\n
\nMust be able to develop effective and efficient communication skills through instruction and training, to adapt favorably to changing program needs and have genuine interest in the welfare of clients. Must be able to develop knowledge of behavior principles through instruction and training. Must pass the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) with an eighty percent or higher. Ability to learn basic computer operations for client data tracking, incident reporting and other processes deemed necessary by the supervisory staff.\n

The employee continuously is required to lift up to 10 lbs. The employee occasionally is required to lift between 11 lbs – 50 lbs. The job requires the employee to use the left and right hand for repetitive actions for simple grasping, firm grasping and fine manipulating. The employee must have the ability to drive the agency’s van. The employee must be able to provide assistance to individuals as needed such as maneuvering wheelchairs, or assisting clients in ambulating and transferring when necessary. Must be able to stay awake during the employee’s work shift.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.\n
