Quick Facts Location: Lafayette, LA Start Date: 03/04/2026 End Date/Duration: Ongoing temporary assignment Shift: Flexible; inpatient, surgical, call, and clinic Hours/Week: 40+ hours/week Employment Type: Locum License/Certifications: State licensure required; applicable APRN or PA license Experience: Prior surgical or cardiothoracic experience preferred Pay & Benefits Pay rate: $1.00/hour (please note, this is a placeholder and should be discussed upon application) Benefits: Pay package discussed upon application Medical, dental, vision (benefits details to be provided) Travel stipends (if applicable) Malpractice insurance coverage What You’ll Do Provide inpatient rounding and surgical consults in a cardiothoracic surgery setting Assist with procedures such as CABG, VATS, thoracotomies, lobectomies, AAA repairs, arterial bypasses, and valve replacements Cover emergency room calls as needed Participate in clinic activities, seeing approximately 15-20 post-op patients weekly Collaborate with a team of 2 surgeons and 3 advanced practice providers Contribute to a surgical volume of roughly 90 procedures per month What You Need Required: Active state license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Surgical or cardiothoracic experience preferred Strong assessment and surgical assisting skills Ability to handle inpatient and emergency calls Preferred: Prior experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgeries Excellent communication and team collaboration skills About the Assignment This position at a leading facility in Lafayette involves supporting a specialized cardiac and thoracic surgery team.
