Instructional Assistant - San Mateo, California

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working as a paraprofessional or in a classroom support role
• Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting activities for diverse learners
• Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff
• Professionalism and adaptability in a busy educational environment
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certifications a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct assistance to students, both one-on-one and in small groups, under teacher direction
• Support classroom activities and instructional goals set by teachers and specialists
• Help manage classroom behavior and contribute to a safe, welcoming environment
• Assist in implementing lesson plans and adapting materials as needed
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and other non-instructional periods
• Facilitate inclusion and encourage student participation in academic and social activities
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold all school policies
