Job Description
Step into a dynamic, rewarding role serving public and private school students from preschool through 8th grade in a welcoming environment near South Bend, IN. This contract position focuses on providing speech-language services in a supportive community, with opportunities for both in-person and virtual placements.
You’ll enjoy working across several settings, including a middle school building with a caseload of 35 students in grades 5-8 and nearby private schools serving preschool to 8th grade. The average full-time virtual caseload ranges from 40–45 students, while in-person caseloads are typically 65–70. There is minimal AAC device usage in private schools, and none required for the middle school. While there are no current bilingual needs for the vacated positions, adjustments can be made for qualified bilingual professionals. There may also be opportunities for in-person SLPAs, based on candidate expertise.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Current licensure and certification as an SLP-CCC for school settings
- Experience, or strong interest, in working with school-aged children (Preschool-Grade 8)
- Ability to manage diverse caseloads efficiently (caseloads vary by setting and modality)
- Flexibility to provide therapy virtually or in-person (must be able to work 37.5 hours/week)
- Knowledge of best practices in assessment, therapy planning, and documentation
- Collaborative approach with staff, students, and families
- Preferred: Prior exposure to school-based speech-language services; openness to SLPA support if qualified
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver speech-language interventions to students individually and in group settings
- Conduct evaluations, maintain accurate records, and contribute to IEP meetings
- Communicate progress with families and collaborate with educational staff
- Adapt interventions for diverse student needs across varied school environments
