LHH is partnering with a growing organization in Overland Park, KS who is seeking a detail-oriented and employee-focused Benefits Specialist to administer and support our comprehensive benefits programs while serving as a trusted resource for employees and management. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, coordination, and communication of employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, leave programs, and wellness initiatives. This role serves as the primary point of contact for benefits-related questions and works closely with employees, vendors, insurance carriers, and HR leadership to ensure a positive employee experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
· Serve as the primary resource for employee benefits inquiries and provide guidance on planning options and eligibility.
· Process benefit enrollments, life event changes, terminations, and annual open enrollment activities.
· Maintain accurate employee benefits records within HRIS and benefits administration platforms.
· Coordinate with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve employee issues.
· Assist employees with leave administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other leave programs.
· Conduct benefits orientations and educate employees on available programs and resources.
· Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and assist with payroll deductions and audits.
· Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and FMLA requirements.
· Support wellness initiatives and employee engagement programs.
· Generate reports and analyze benefits utilization data to support HR decision-making.
· Assist with benefit plan renewals, benchmarking, and vendor management activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
· 2+ years of benefits administration or human resources experience.
· Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and HR best practices.
· Experience working with HRIS platforms and benefits administration systems.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
· Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Experience administering medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and leave programs.
· Knowledge of benefit compliance regulations including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
· Experience with payroll and HRIS systems such as Workday, UKG, ADP, Paycom, Ceridian, or Dayforce.
· Professional certifications such as PHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS, or related credentials are a plus
Pay Details: $60,000.00 to $70,000.00 per year
