Quick Facts Location: 401 West Poplar Street, Walla Walla, WA 99362 Start Date: 07/21/2026 End Date/Duration: Ongoing, with 3-week per month coverage Shift Schedule: Variable (see below) Shift Times: 6a-4p, 8a-6p, 12p-10p, 3p-1a, 9p-6a Hours/Week: 10 hours/day, approximately 11-15 shifts per month Employment Type: Contract / Locum Tenens Required Licenses/Certifications: WA Medical License (active), DEA, ABEM Certification Experience: Prior emergency medicine experience preferred Pay Rate: $1.00/hour Pay & Benefits: Competitive pay package Weekly pay via direct deposit Comprehensive medical insurance (W-2) Paid sick time in compliance with laws Licensure, travel, and other reimbursements as applicable Robust referral bonus program Additional incentives for night shifts ($25/hour) What You’ll Do Provide high-quality emergency medicine care in a busy community ED Cover inpatient shifts with a flexible schedule and variable shift times Conduct initial assessments, diagnoses, and develop treatment plans for emergency patients Collaborate with a team of board-certified emergency physicians Document all patient encounters accurately and timely using EPIC EMR Manage trauma levels (Level 3), including stroke activation and cardiac cases Participate in educational activities and quality improvement initiatives Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and state licensing requirements What You Need Current, active medical license in Washington State Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine DEA license Minimum of 11-15 shifts per month; availability for variable hours Ability to return privileges within 1-2 business days Clean record without NPDB reports or red flags Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude About the Assignment Join a community hospital with an annual volume of over 30,000 patients. The facility has 22 beds, including hallway and transfer beds, and provides a dedicated, supportive environment for emergency providers. Staffed with board-certified physicians, the ED maintains coverage with varying levels of provider availability, including tele-stroke and 24/7 cardiac cath lab access. The facility is a Level 3 trauma center, offering a dynamic and rewarding environment for emergency medicine professionals.
