\nAs the Mechanical Design Engineer you are responsible for product design, including product specifications, material selection, parametric modeling, and detailing drawings. We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who can turn sheet metal into mission-critical infrastructure, designing IT datacenter racks, and network enclosures. This role blends hands-on product design, standards-driven engineering, and cross-functional project leadership. You’ll own designs from concept through production, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and compliance with key industry standards.\n

\nKey Responsibilities:\n
\nProduct Design & Engineering\n
\nDesign IT racks, network enclosures, from concept through production, based on customer specifications.\n
\nDevelop product specifications, layouts, and detailed CAD models (parametric design)\n
\nCreate fabrication drawings for sheet metal components (bending, punching, welding, finishing)\n
\nDesign for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and scalability\n
\nSupport enclosure and accessory packaging solutions\n
\n
\nStandards & Compliance\n
\nEnsure compliance with applicable standards including:\n
\nEIA-310 (rack standards)\n
\nUL 2416, UL 60950, and related UL/IEC/CSA requirements\n
\nSupport product certification efforts and agency submissions\n
\nValidate designs against thermal, structural, and safety requirements\n
\n
\nTesting & Validation\n
\nPlan and execute design verification testing (mechanical, thermal, environmental)\n
\nInterpret test results and refine designs accordingly\n
\nSupport prototype builds and pilot production\n
\n
\nProject Ownership\n
\nLead or contribute to cross-functional project teams\n
\nManage timelines, deliverables, and engineering milestones\n
\nProvide regular updates on schedule, cost, and risks to Project Management\n
\nDrive engineering changes (ECNs), documentation, and release processes\n
\n
\nDocumentation & Systems\n
\nSupport the creation and maintenance:\n
\nBills of Materials (BOMs)\n
\nMaterial master data\n
\nInstallation and field modification instructions\n
\nSupport ERP systems (SAP preferred) for product data management\n
\nCollaboration & Continuous Improvement\n
\nWork closely with global design engineering team, local manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams\n
\nInterface with customers to understand application requirements\n
\nIdentify opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction, and standardization\n
\nEducation & Experience\n
\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field\n
\n4–6+ years of relevant design experience (enclosures, racks, or sheet metal products preferred)\n
\nTechnical Skills\n
\nStrong CAD skills (PTC Creo / Windchill preferred)\n
\nExperience with sheet metal design and manufacturing processes\n
\nPreferred experience performing FEA simulations (structural, thermal, or vibration) to validate and optimize designs\n
\nUnderstanding of IP/NEMA enclosure ratings\n
\nStandards Knowledge (Highly Preferred)\n
\nEIA-310 rack standards\n
\nUL 2416, UL 60950 (or similar safety standards)\n
\nGeneral UL, IEC, CSA compliance frameworks\n
\nWorking knowledge of Open Compute Project (OCP) rack designs, architectures, and specifications is a plus\n
\nPreferred Experience:\n
\nDesign of IT/data center infrastructure or network racks\n
\nExperience designing or supporting OCP-based rack systems or hyperscale data center architecture\n
\nExperience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and risk-based design methodologies\n
\nExperience working with global engineering teams\n
\nFamiliarity with SAP or similar ERP systems\n
\nExposure to thermal management or power distribution systems\n
