\nAbout This Position:\n
\n
\nThe Assistant Food Service Director works with the Food Service Director to plan, direct, and coordinate activities associated with running a large food service operation with one or more production kitchens. The Assistant Food Service Director is also responsible for supervising a group of food service workers that are involved with the preparation and distribution of food in the kitchen.\n
\n

\nEssential Functions/Core Responsibilities\n
\n
\nResponsible for the supervision, training, and management of the facility food service operation.\n
\nHires, orients, trains and issues corrective action (when applicable) to team members.\n
\nReview and approve payroll on a weekly basis.\n
\nBuilding and maintaining positive connections with clients by regularly communicating, understanding their needs, proactively addressing concerns, providing excellent service, and working to ensure their continued satisfaction with the company's products or services, ultimately aiming to retain them as long-term customers.\n
\nOversees the appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served according to facility or site plan.\n
\nInsures team is adequately trained and capable to perform job responsibilities in a safe and compliant manner.\n
\nResponsible for maintaining accuracy of inventory in advance preparation of planned menu schedule.\n
\nInsures ordering and all required reports are completed accurately and on time.\n
\nResponsible for overseeing all preventive maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the Program.\n
\nManages food service operation in compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as required local, state and federal laws and regulations.\n
\nEnsures that food items are stored in a safe and hazard free manner.\n
\nPlans for special events and functions thru participation in meetings with assigned customer facility operations staff.\n
\nMaintain all serving schedules to ensure all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to departmental guidelines.\n
\nMaintain a sanitary environment following food service and Health Department codes and regulations.\n
\nMaintain accurate on-site reports of daily and monthly financial, production, and activity.\n
\nResponsible for any state or other inspection of food service operation.\n
\nMay participate in the contract negotiation and renewal process.\n
\nMay perform other duties as assigned.\n
\nWhat You'll Need:\n
\nHigh School Diploma or Equivalent, and you must be at least 18 years of age.\n
\nTwo years of management or supervisory experience in a food service position.\n
\nThree years of experience working in food service.\n
\nServSafe Certification.\n
\nA valid driver’s license is required.\n
\nMust have experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering and receiving.\n
\nKnowledge and experience managing and applying kitchen sanitation and safety standards and methods.\n
\nKnowledge of basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports.\n
\nProficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and with food service management systems.\n
\nPrior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred.\n
