\nPosition Summary\n
\nAs the Weld Engineer, you will drive welding process innovation, manufacturing efficiency, and quality improvements across Rittal’s fabrication operations. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing welding technologies, supporting new product launches, implementing capital projects, and ensuring best-in-class manufacturing practices. This role partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and external suppliers to create safe, efficient, and scalable manufacturing processes that support continued business growth.\n

\nPrimary Activities/Duties:\n
\nMaintain a rigorous adherence to safety standards.\n
\nIdentify weld technologies and lead capital investment projects to improve safety, quality and productivity.\n
\nContinuously develop weld techniques and processes to increase productivity.\n
\nInvestigate welding related issues, troubleshoot, and provide corrective measures to improve productivity and performance.\n
\nWork with Design Engineering to develop standards, materials, and weld joint design.\n
\nLead and/or support new product development through launch.\n
\nSupport execution of all operations in a safe manner, achieving a zero-accident environment.\n
\nMeet/exceed all targets for quality, productivity, uptime, on-time delivery and cost.\n
\nDrive continuous improvement to achieve a “World Class” manufacturing environment through support of the Rittal Production System.\n
\nDesign and implement tooling, fixtures, and jigs for fabrication, welding, assembly, and paint operations.\n
\nManage and develop relationships with tooling, fixture, and equipment vendors.\n
\nProvide weekly updates for all improvement and equipment projects.\n
\nMaintain personal action tracker and update weekly.\n
\nAssist Maintenance with problem-solving and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and processes.\n
\nWork with QA, Industrial Engineering, and Production to develop work instructions and operation sequences.\n
\nOrganize and manage project meetings to communicate and track progress of action items.\n
\nActively participate in design reviews for ECN or new products.\n
\nRespond to manufacturing feasibility requests in a timely manner.\n
\nAttend production, staff, 1x1, and status meetings as required.\n
\nActive participant in improving the Manufacturing Engineering organization.\n
\nActively engage with peers and management in the creation of positive workplace culture.\n
\nDrive and/or support 6S activities.\n
\nOther duties as assigned.\n
\n
\nPhysical Requirements:\n
\nRequires extended periods on the manufacturing floor and in an office environment working at a computer. Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above the shoulders.\n
\n
\nMental Requirements:\n
\nWork in a fast-paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, learn office procedures and learn and use new software. Must be detail oriented; communicate effectively via oral and written communication with all levels of employees, customers, and vendors. Self-starter who is willing to work through and seek answers to ongoing new requirements. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.\n

\nSafety Requirements:\n
\nWear safety-toed footwear, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and additional personal protective equipment where required.\n

\nComplete directives given either verbally or in writing. Make and assist in determining logical decisions.\n

\nDirect Contacts: Vice President of Operations, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Coordinator, Manufacturing Engineering team members, Maintenance, Managers, Supervisors, Team Leaders, internal and external vendors and customers.\n
\nIndirect Contacts: All other departments throughout the plant.\n

\nKnowledge and Experience:\n
\nBachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering with 3+ years of experience as a Weld Engineer in sheet metal fabrication.\n
\nExperience with sheet metal fabrication welding, powder coating, and/or stamping\n
\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to present to Executive Management.\n
\nExperience with SAP software, Auto CAD, and all Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point\n
\nAbility to read mechanical drawings.\n
\nThorough understanding of Lean methodology\n
\nUnderstanding of Six Sigma quality management tools such as 5-Why, FMEA, Pareto analysis, etc.\n
\nExperience with MIG/TIG Welding, time study collection and analysis, CNC Programming.\n
\nKnowledge of Assembly line layout development and torque tooling design\n
\n
\nPreferred Skills\n
\nExperience with sheet metal fabrication welding, powder coating and/or stamping\n
\nThorough understanding of Lean methodology\n
