Producer / Editor – AudiobooksLocation: OxfordJob Type: Fixed Term Contract (ending 31st December 2026)Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including some weekend workSalary: c. £26,500 per annum (pro rata)Are you passionate about books and interested in bringing stories to life through audio?Our client has been producing unabridged audiobooks for over 20 years. Based in Oxford, we pride ourselves on creating the complete audiobook product from start to finish. Our small, enthusiastic team is responsible for selecting quality titles, casting experienced readers, and producing high-quality recordings.The RoleThis role offers the opportunity to work across both the recording studio and editing suite, helping to create high-quality audiobook productions from start to finish.In the studio, you will work closely with actors to produce excellent recordings, identifying and correcting mistakes where required. In the editing suite, you will use ProTools and a range of other software on iMacs to complete the remaining stages of production.This is a highly process-driven role where accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as each stage of production depends on the quality of the previous one. You will need to be able to concentrate for extended periods, have a passion for popular fiction, and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team delivering a first-rate product.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the recording and production of unabridged audiobooks from studio sessions through to final masteringWork closely with actors during recording sessions to achieve high-quality performancesIdentify, edit, and correct recording errors and inconsistenciesUse ProTools and other audio editing software to complete production tasksCarry out detailed editing, checking, and mastering processesMaintain accuracy and consistency throughout all stages of audiobook productionWork collaboratively with the Audio Production team to meet deadlines and quality standardsRequirementsEssentialTechnically competent with a working knowledge of iMacs and digital softwareExcellent English language skills, including strong attention to detailA good ear for pronunciation and audio qualityAbility to concentrate for long periods and complete detailed, process-driven work accuratelyStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a teamA proactive, reliable, and organised approach to workDesirableExperience using ProTools or similar audio editing softwarePrevious experience in audio production, editing, or studio environmentsA passion for reading and popular fictionExperience working with spoken-word recordings or audiobooksWhat's In It For You25 days of annual leaveA contributory pension schemeLife assuranceThe opportunity to join an experienced and enthusiastic audiobook production teamHands-on involvement in creating high-quality audiobook recordings from start to finishThe chance to develop technical skills in audio editing and productionA collaborative working environment based in OxfordWhat's next?
