Interim Financial Controller

London | 6-month fixed-term contract

We are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to join a London-based business on a 6-month fixed-term contract, supporting the finance function through a period of change and strengthening the control environment.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the confidence to improve processes, controls, and reporting within a commercial SME environment.

  Ownership of financial and statutory reporting under IFRS

  Preparation and review of year-end and interim accounts

\n
• \n

  Oversight of tax compliance, including corporation tax and VAT returns

\n
• \n

  Responsibility for SOX controls, documentation, testing, and remediation

\n
• \n

  Leading and developing a small finance team

\n
• \n

  Driving improvements to processes, controls, and procedures

\n
• \n

  Acting as a key finance contact for auditors and external advisers

\n
• \n

  Supporting senior stakeholders with high-quality financial insight

\n

\n
• \n

  Strong technical accounting background with in-depth IFRS knowledge

\n
• \n

  Proven experience in financial and statutory reporting

\n
• \n

  Solid understanding of UK tax requirements

\n
• \n

  Experience operating within a SOX-controlled environment

\n
• \n

  Demonstrable experience operating at Financial Controller (or equivalent) level within a commercial SME

\n
• \n

  Track record of implementing change and improving finance processes

\n
• \n

  Comfortable operating in a hands-on, fast-paced interim role

\n
• \n

  Confident people manager with experience leading small teams

\n

• \n

  ACA / CA / ACCA qualified

\n
• \n

  Trained in a Big 4 or Top 10 accountancy practice

\n
• \n

  Prior interim or transformation-focused experience desirable
