Modus Careers
London, ENG, GB Full Time

Job Description

Senior Designer

\n

London | £45,000 to £50,000 + Bonus + Benefits

\n

\n

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Designer who already understands workplace furniture inside out. Someone who knows that specifying furniture isn't simply about creating a beautiful workspace. It's about understanding how every product performs, integrates and functions within a live commercial environment.

\n

\n

If you've worked for a workplace furniture dealer, manufacturer or design and build business, you'll know exactly what we mean.

\n

\n

You'll understand the difference between selecting furniture that looks right and specifying furniture that actually works.

\n

\n

You'll know the leading manufacturers, understand their product ranges and appreciate the technical detail behind every specification, from cable management and AV integration through to ergonomics, storage solutions, power access and workplace functionality.

\n

\n

As a Senior Designer, you'll become one of the technical leaders within an established design team. You'll play a key role in supporting designers, advising clients and leading the furniture specification process on some of the business's most important workplace projects.

\n

\n

The role

\n

\n

Working across a portfolio of major workplace clients, you'll lead multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating directly with architects, end users and internal teams to deliver exceptional workplace environments.

\n

\n

You'll take ownership of larger, more complex projects, acting as the lead designer from concept through to installation while managing client relationships throughout the design process.

\n

\n

Projects range from full office refurbishments and headquarters through to ongoing workplace improvements and rollout programmes across national and international portfolios.

\n

\n

Alongside delivering your own projects, you'll also provide technical guidance and mentoring to the wider design team, sharing your knowledge of workplace furniture and helping develop those around you.

\n

\n

We're looking for someone who can

\n
    \n
  • Lead multiple workplace furniture projects independently from concept through to completion
  • \n
  • Produce creative, commercially viable furniture schemes
  • \n
  • Specify furniture from leading workplace manufacturers with confidence
  • \n
  • Apply technical knowledge of workplace furniture within commercial environments
  • \n
  • Advise on ergonomics, cable management, AV integration and product functionality
  • \n
  • Build trusted relationships with architects, clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • \n
  • Present concepts, specifications and design solutions with confidence
  • \n
  • Mentor and support less experienced designers
  • \n
  • Take ownership of complex projects while balancing multiple deadlines
  • \n
\n

\n

You'll ideally come from

\n
    \n
  • A workplace furniture dealership
  • \n
  • A furniture manufacturer
  • \n
  • A workplace design and build consultancy
  • \n
  • A commercial interiors consultancy with significant furniture specification experience
  • \n
\n

\n

Experience we're looking for

\n
    \n
  • Extensive workplace furniture specification experience
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of leading workplace furniture manufacturers and product ranges
  • \n
  • An understanding of how furniture integrates with the wider workplace environment
  • \n
  • Excellent client-facing and presentation skills
  • \n
  • AutoCAD proficiency
  • \n
  • Experience leading multiple commercial workplace projects simultaneously
  • \n
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior and midweight designers
  • \n
  • A collaborative approach with excellent communication skills
  • \n
\n

\n

Why this opportunity?

\n

\n

This is an opportunity to become one of the senior technical voices within an ambitious and growing design team.

\n

\n

You'll work on high-profile workplace projects for major corporate clients, partnering with architects and end users to create inspiring commercial environments where furniture is central to the overall workplace experience.

\n

\n

You'll have the opportunity to influence projects, support the development of the wider team and become a trusted expert in workplace furniture specification.

\n

\n

If you're someone who genuinely enjoys the technical side of workplace furniture as much as the creative side, and you're looking for a role where your expertise will be recognised and valued, this is the kind of opportunity that rarely comes to market.
