Veterinary Surgeon – Preclinical Research
\nAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established preclinical research organisation. Working alongside an experienced Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS), you will play a key role in supporting animal welfare, veterinary care, and regulatory compliance across a range of research programmes.
\nThis position offers a structured development pathway, including training and support towards becoming a Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS), making it an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian looking to build a long-term career within the research environment.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Provide veterinary care and clinical oversight for animals \n
- Support animal welfare, health monitoring, and preventative medicine programmes \n
- Work closely with scientific and animal care teams to ensure high standards of welfare and compliance \n
- Assist with the review of study protocols and provide veterinary input where required \n
- Contribute to regulatory compliance in line with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA) and associated guidelines. \n
- Participate in veterinary investigations, case management, and welfare assessments \n
- Support training and development initiatives relating to animal welfare and veterinary best practice \n
Requirements
\n- \n
- MRCVS-qualified Veterinary Surgeon \n
- Previous experience working with dogs is essential \n
- Strong understanding of animal welfare and clinical veterinary practice \n
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams \n
Desirable Experience
\n- \n
- Experience working within a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) or research environment \n
- Knowledge of laboratory animal science and the regulatory framework governing animal research \n
- Exposure to ASPA-regulated procedures \n
- Interest in progressing towards Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS) responsibilities \n
