Tax Automation & Alteryx Data Analyst
\nLocation: London (Hybrid – 2 days per week in office, either Mon/Wed or Tue/Wed)
\nContract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
\nSalary: £93,000 – £103,000 + Guaranteed Full Bonus
\nReports to: Head of Tax Transformation
\nThe Opportunity
\nMy client is seeking a highly analytical Tax Automation & AI Data Analyst to join the Tax Transformation team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
\nThis role sits at the intersection of data engineering, automation and applied AI.
\nYou will play a key role in helping the Tax function modernise its operating model by combining established automation technologies such as Alteryx with emerging AI capabilities, including LLM-powered tools and Agentic AI solutions.
\nWorking directly with tax subject matter experts, you will help transform manual and spreadsheet-heavy processes into scalable, controlled and auditable solutions.
\nThis is a hands-on delivery role focused on building practical automation and AI-enabled capabilities rather than leading people.
\nThe successful candidate will be passionate about using data and technology to solve business problems, confident engaging with non-technical stakeholders and able to help teams identify new ways AI can create value across Tax operations.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain Alteryx workflows that automate complex tax and finance processes. \n
- Partner with Tax SMEs to identify, prioritise and build a pipeline of automation and AI use cases. \n
- Use data engineering and automation techniques to reduce manual processing and improve operational efficiency. \n
- Support the development and implementation of AI-enabled solutions, including LLM-based tools, Claude use cases and Agentic AI capabilities. \n
- Help the Tax function understand how AI can be practically and responsibly applied to enhance processes and decision-making. \n
- Build controlled, auditable solutions within a regulated financial services environment. \n
- Source, cleanse, validate and reconcile data from multiple systems and datasets. \n
- Develop reporting, dashboards and analytical outputs to support operational and strategic tax activities. \n
- Create clear technical documentation and promote adoption of new tools and processes. \n
- Work closely with data engineering colleagues to help meet growing demand for automation and AI initiatives across the department. \n
- Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and bring forward innovative solutions. \n
Essential Skills & Experience
\nMinimum Requirements
\n- \n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions. \n
- Hands-on experience developing business-critical workflows in Alteryx. \n
- Alteryx certification or willingness to obtain certification quickly. \n
- Experience working with complex datasets and data transformation activities. \n
- Advanced Excel skills. \n
- Experience applying AI technologies within business processes, particularly: \n
- LLM-based tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT or similar) \n
- Prompt engineering and AI-assisted workflows \n
- Emerging Agentic AI capabilities \n
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage and influence non-technical users. \n
Desirable Experience
\n- \n
- Financial Services, Insurance or another highly regulated environment. \n
- Experience supporting finance, tax, risk or control-related processes. \n
- Knowledge of Power BI or similar visualisation tools. \n
- Experience building AI-enabled automation solutions. \n
- Understanding of governance, controls and risk considerations when deploying AI capabilities. \n
- Exposure to tax, finance transformation or process improvement initiatives. \n
