Job Description
Position : Technical Project Lead
\nLocation : Sheffield with regular and frequent time on customer sites worldwide
\nSalary : Negotiable but likely to be £60,000 - £80,000
\nPurpose:
\n- \n
- Responsible to the Head of Engineering, you will take technical responsibility for project execution and engineering deliverables in accordance with contract and the agreed timeline. \n
- This role is very much a technical position with elements of project management / project delivery involved. It is not simply managing the delivery of the project \n
- You will be responsible for assigned portion of product design and development process, ensuring project schedules are maintained \n
- Monitor progress, identify any areas of concern, escalate & manage customer expectations. \n
- Support sales and prepare the data analysis and collection before the project start. \n
- Support colleagues during technical and commercial negotiations. \n
- Planning across multiple project milestones and resources to ensure engineering is delivered on time \n
- Ensure designs are within project cost constraints \n
- Manage engineering resources, internal and external to suit project requirements \n
- Manage delivery of motor and components list and coordinate with automation dept \n
- Visit sites worldwide to attend meetings, monitor erection and commissioning \n
- Be able to read and understand technical drawings (mechanical, electrical and piping). \n
- Worldwide Customer visits occasionally required for kick off, progress meetings and site problem solving \n
Qualifications & Experience: (desirable and/or essential)
\n- \n
- A degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or very similar is essential \n
- Post graduate qualifications or professional accreditations are beneficial - MEng, CEng etc \n
- You will have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft programmes; in particular, Word formatting and overall documentation presentation skills. \n
- Good communication and team working skills both oral and written; with proven clear and effective communication skills in both formal and informal business environments. \n
- Good analytical and engineering problem-solving ability looking at overall results and finer details. \n
- Ability to deliver technical / engineering quality results under pressure \n
- Ability to remain self-motivated. \n
- Experience undertaking structured writing in the form of technical reports. \n
- Working experience within technical structures for materials handling, kinetic architecture or similar sectors \n
- Fabrication / Steelwork Design experience is beneficial \n
- Evidence of project management experience or understanding is beneficial although the role is very much technically biased \n
- Planning skills, on-time delivery of assignments \n
- Experience of 2D and 3D CAD is very much preferred (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor & PLM experience a plus). The ability to read and understand engineering drawings is essential \n
