Fire & Security Engineer Salary: £42,000-48,000 (typically £70,000 with overtime)Location: Harlow / Brentwood area, covering Northern Home CountiesAre you a multi-skilled engineer with strong CCTV, intruder and access control experience, alongside a good working knowledge of fire alarm systems?Our client is expanding its field engineering team and is looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to support a varied portfolio of commercial, education and infrastructure sites. You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, small works and occasional installation activity across a broad range of security and fire systems.This role is particularly well suited to an engineer with strong IP CCTV and electronic security experience who is also confident servicing and repairing fire alarm systems. You will work independently across your allocated area, managing your schedule, communicating with customers and ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally and to a high technical standard.Job Description Duties will include:Servicing, maintaining and repairing CCTV, intruder alarm, access control and door entry systemsDiagnosing faults on IP and analogue CCTV networks, control panels, devices, circuits and associated equipmentCarrying out planned and reactive maintenance on fire alarm systemsCompleting small works, system alterations and minor installation projectsAttending customer sites covering Northern Home CountiesProviding clear technical updates and recommendations to customers and site contactsCompleting service reports, job documentation, risk assessments and method statementsEnsuring van stock, tools and test equipment are maintained and accurately recordedSupporting occasional associated systems work, including gates, barriers, disabled refuge or nurse call systemsParticipating in an out-of-hours call-out rota, currently approximately one week in twelvePerson Specification Applicants should be able to demonstrate:Previous experience as a Fire & Security Engineer, Security Systems Engineer or similarly multi-skilled field engineerStrong practical knowledge of IP CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and door entry systemsExperience servicing, fault-finding and repairing fire alarm systemsThe ability to diagnose and resolve technical faults independentlyExperience working with systems such as Hikvision, Dahua, Galaxy, Texecom, Paxton, PAC, Videx, Gent, Advanced, Notifier, Morley or C-tecA good understanding of health and safety procedures and safe site working practicesStrong customer service and communication skillsThe ability to manage a mobile workload across multiple sitesA full UK driving licenceExperience with gates, barriers, disabled refuge systems or nurse call systems would be beneficial, although additional training can be provided.Salary and Benefits The role offers a basic rate of £42,000-48,000 per annum, equivalent to approximately £21£24 per hour.Travel is paid after the first 30 minutes each way, with overtime paid at enhanced rates:Evenings paid at 1.5 times the standard rateLate shifts and weekends paid at double timeAdditional allowance for participation in the call-out rotaThe wider benefits package includes:Company van and fuelLaptop and mobile phoneTools and test equipmentHealthcarePension scheme25 days holiday plus statutory bank holidaysRegular overtime opportunitiesOngoing technical training and developmentThis is a strong opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys varied technical work and wants to join a growing business offering a competitive basic salary, paid travel, excellent overtime rates and exposure to a wide range of fire and security technologies.To apply, please submit your CV by clicking on the relevant links.
