Duty Manager - Convenience Retail
\nSalary: £30,000 - £32,000Contract: Full Time (40 hours per week)Hours: Includes weekends and bank holidays

- Successful candidates may be invited to a second-stage face-to-face interview \n
- The first 9 weeks of training will take place at our Birmingham store, so candidates must be able to commute during this period \n

About the Role
\nWe are seeking an experienced and hands-on Duty Manager to support the day-to-day operation of a busy convenience store. Selling a broad range of ambient, fresh, frozen and food-to-go products, this role is ideal for a retail professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading teams to deliver excellent customer service and commercial results.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nStore Operations
\n- \n
- Oversee the daily running of the store \n
- Manage replenishment of ambient, fresh and frozen stock \n
- Support hot food preparation and food-to-go operations \n
- Receive and process deliveries \n
- Complete stock rotation, date checks and waste control procedures \n
- Maintain high standards of availability, merchandising and store presentation \n
- Open and close the store as a key holder \n
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and food safety regulations \n
Team Leadership

- Lead, motivate and develop store colleagues \n
- Create a positive and productive working environment \n
- Manage staff rotas to ensure effective store coverage \n
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback \n
- Handle employee relations matters professionally and fairly \n
- Support colleague development and engagement \n
Customer Service
\n- \n
- Deliver outstanding customer service through a knowledgeable and friendly team \n
- Resolve customer queries and complaints effectively \n
- Build strong relationships with customers and the local community \n
- Drive customer loyalty and maintain the store's reputation \n
Commercial Performance
\n- \n
- Support delivery of sales, profit and operational KPI targets \n
- Monitor waste, shrinkage and product availability \n
- Control operating costs, including wages and utilities \n
- Produce operational and financial reports as required \n
About You
\nYou'll have:
\n- \n
- Previous retail management or supervisory experience, ideally within convenience, food retail or FMCG \n
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills \n
- Excellent problem-solving abilities \n
- A proactive, hands-on approach \n
- The ability to prioritise and perform in a fast-paced environment \n
- A strong focus on customer satisfaction \n
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays \n
You'll also demonstrate commercial awareness, attention to detail, sound decision-making skills and a commitment to developing others.
