Associate Transport Planner - London / Surrey (Hybrid)

\nPenguin Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading UK consultancy in the search for an experienced Associate Transport Planner to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior role within a respected consultancy, working on a diverse range of development projects across the UK while benefiting from a hybrid working environment based in London or Surrey.
\nOur client specialises in transport planning and infrastructure design across a wide variety of sectors, including residential, retail, leisure, office, distribution, industrial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments. Their team delivers tailored solutions throughout the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and assessment through to implementation and supervision, with a strong reputation for providing cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
\nAs an Associate Transport Planner, you will play a key role in leading transport planning projects, managing client relationships, and supporting the delivery of integrated infrastructure solutions across a broad range of developments.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Lead the preparation and delivery of Transport Assessments and Transport Statements. \n
- Prepare and develop Travel Plans for a range of development projects. \n
- Undertake and manage transport modelling and analytical assessments. \n
- Carry out feasibility studies to support development proposals. \n
- Provide transport planning input to highway design projects. \n
- Coordinate with drainage and flood risk specialists to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions. \n
- Prepare clear, accurate, and professional technical reports. \n
- Present technical findings to clients, stakeholders, and project teams. \n
- Attend meetings, consultations, and, where required, public inquiries to provide expert transport planning advice. \n
- Mentor and support junior members of the transport planning team. \n
- Assist with project management to ensure work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales. \n
- Contribute to bids and proposals for new projects. \n
- Build and maintain strong client relationships. \n
- Ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery across all projects. \n
- Work collaboratively within a hybrid team environment while also managing your own workload independently. \n
Requirements
\n- \n
- Strong experience in transport planning, including the delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for development projects. \n
- Proficiency in transport modelling and related analytical tools, with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into practical recommendations. \n
- Excellent communication skills, including technical report writing, presenting complex information to non-specialists, and stakeholder engagement. \n
- Degree (or equivalent) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline. \n
- Professional accreditation with CIHT, TPS, ICE, or working towards accreditation is highly desirable. \n
- Demonstrated experience of UK transport policy, design standards, and development planning processes, including liaison with local authorities and other public bodies. \n
- Competence using relevant software, including junction and network modelling, GIS, and MS Office. \n
- Strong analytical and detail-focused approach. \n
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. \n
