Oldbury | £30,000 - £33,000 | Permanent | Monday to Friday

Are you an experienced Toolroom Operative or Toolmaker looking to join a market-leading engineering business where quality, precision and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything they do?

\n

Our client is seeking a skilled Toolroom Operative to join their Technical Centre, supporting the manufacture, maintenance and repair of tooling used across a busy production environment. This is a hands-on role where you'll work as part of an experienced team, ensuring tooling is produced and maintained to the highest standards while minimising production downtime.

The Role\n

As a Toolroom Operative, you will:

  • Manufacture, maintain and repair press and shear tooling.
  • \n
  • Carry out fault finding and tool modifications.
  • \n
  • Operate both CNC and manual machine tools, including milling, turning, surface grinding and wire EDM.
  • \n
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, working to tight tolerances.
  • \n
  • Support production by responding to tooling breakdowns and ensuring planned try-out dates are achieved.
  • \n
  • Assist with continuous improvement activities across the Toolroom.
  • \n
  • Work safely and maintain high housekeeping standards at all times.
  • \n
About You\n

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience within a Toolroom or Toolmaker position.
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of press and shear tooling manufacture and maintenance.
  • \n
  • Experience using both CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • \n
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • \n
  • A high level of accuracy with excellent attention to detail.
  • \n
  • A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • \n
  • A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to learn new machining techniques.
  • \n
\n

Experience with cut-off, pre-pierce or progressive press tooling would be highly advantageous.
