Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate & Senior)
\nOCSC, a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking Intermediate and Senior Mechanical Design Engineers to join its Building Services team.
\nLocation: London or Birmingham (Hybrid working model)
\nSponsorship: Not available
\nRole
\nAs part of an integrated multidisciplinary project team, you will be responsible for the design and specification of mechanical building services systems for a wide range of projects. Opportunities are available at both Intermediate and Senior level, with responsibilities aligned to your experience
\nRequirements
\nIntermediate Mechanical Design Engineer
\n- \n
- Third level degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering. \n
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar building services design role. \n
- Previous UK or Ireland project experience is essential. \n
- Strong technical ability and understanding of current engineering standards, including Building Regulations, CIBSE/BSRIA Guides and IS/EN Standards. \n
- Experience in the design and specification of mechanical building services systems, including drainage, water services, heating, cooling, ventilation and controls. \n
- Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD and Navisworks. \n
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team. \n
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. \n
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
\n- \n
- Third level degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering. \n
- 7+ years' experience in mechanical building services design, ideally within a design consultancy. \n
- Previous UK or Ireland project experience. \n
- Strong technical ability and thorough understanding of current engineering standards, including Building Regulations, CIBSE Codes and IS/EN Standards. \n
- Extensive experience in the design and specification of mechanical building services systems, including drainage, water services, heating, cooling, ventilation and Building Management Systems (BMS). \n
- Experience working with clients, contractors and vendors. \n
- Experience with AutoCAD; Revit and IES experience advantageous. \n
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership. \n
- Strong leadership, communication and project management skills. \n
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. \n
Key Responsibilities
\nIntermediate
\n- \n
- Assist with the design and specification of mechanical building services systems in accordance with current regulations and design standards. \n
- Work as part of an integrated project design team. \n
- Assist with the management of engineering tasks on projects. \n
- Support construction-stage activities, including site inspections, technical submittals and responding to RFIs. \n
Senior
\n- \n
- Lead the design and specification of mechanical engineering solutions for building projects. \n
- Work directly with clients to define project requirements and develop technical solutions. \n
- Lead multidisciplinary project design teams. \n
- Manage pre-construction engineering activities, including services coordination, tender documentation, specifications and equipment schedules. \n
- Lead project delivery during construction, including site inspections, technical submittals and RFIs. \n
- Mentor and support junior engineers. \n
