Taylor Root has been given the heads up on a new Senior Associate / Legal Director opportunity with a leading international law firm with one of the market-leading marine and shipping practice in London.

This is a standout opportunity to work closely with the Head of the Practice as their trusted deputy, taking on a genuine "number two" role within the team. The successful candidate will play a key part in leading complex, high-value transactions, supporting client development initiatives and helping drive the continued growth of the practice.

You would work on a broad range of complex, cross-border shipping and marine asset transactions, advising an international client base including shipowners, financial institutions, leasing companies, investors and marine sector participants. The team is recognised for its expertise in ship finance, sale and purchase transactions, marine and floating energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Advising on complex shipping, LNG and offshore energy transactions, including FSRU development, construction, operation and long-term charter arrangements.
  • \n
  • Supporting vessel sale, purchase and leaseback transactions, newbuild projects and shipbuilding contracts across a range of marine assets.
  • \n
  • Acting on ship finance, leasing, refinancing and structured finance matters, including private equity-backed investments and joint ventures.
  • \n
  • Negotiating charterparties, bareboat charters, O&M agreements and related commercial contracts.
  • \n
  • Advising owners, operators, lenders and investors on cross-border maritime and energy projects.

Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Qualified lawyer with 6+ years' post-qualification experience.
  • \n
  • Demonstrable experience in shipping finance, maritime transactions, asset finance and/or ship sale and purchase matters.
  • \n
  • Exposure to LNG, FSRU, offshore energy or wider maritime infrastructure projects would be beneficial.
  • \n
  • Strong client relationship management and transaction execution skills.
  • \n
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior lawyers.
  • \n
  • Enthusiastic about joining a growing practice and contributing to team-wide and broader business development initiatives.
