Senior Town Planner (or aspiring to)
\nLocation: Delightful market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire
\nContract: Full-time, permanent. (Part time may be considered - please enquire)

\nTate is recruiting for a Town Planner for a successful and growing Town Planning Consultancy.
\nThis opportunity is open to either someone with at least one year's experience (from consultancy or local authority) OR to a Senior Planner. Eitherway, the business is committed to helping you further your career at your pace and aspiration.
\nPlease note: Unfortunately this role is not open to recent graduates on this occasion. Applicants must have a minimum of one year's Town Planning experience gained in either the public or private sector.
\nYour Role
\nYou will support and manage planning applications and appeals across a range of small-scale and minor developments, working closely with clients, Local Planning Authorities and internal colleagues. The role offers flexibility in scope, with greater responsibility and the higher end of this salary range available for candidates bringing Senior Planner-level experience.
\nThis business is very invested in your career development and RTPI chartership and will support you to develop and progress over the coming years with potential to reach Principal level and beyond if you are looking to progress in Town Planning.

- Salary £30,000-£45,000, dependent on experience \n

Key Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Prepare and support planning applications and appeals \n
- Liaise with clients, LPAs and key stakeholders \n
- Research planning policy, site history and constraints \n
- Draft planning appraisals, statements and representations \n
- Advise on planning conditions and post-decision matters \n
- Support Local Plan site promotions and monitoring \n
- Collaborate with colleagues on larger or more complex schemes \n
Additonal experience for Senior Planner applications (at higher end of salary range) should include
\n- \n
- Managing planning projects with minimal supervision \n
- Leading planning strategies and advising on appeals \n
- Involvement in Local Plan promotions or land supply work \n
- Attendance at external meetings or committees \n
- Commercial awareness, including fee management \n
Essential Requirements
\n- \n
- Minimum 1 year on the job Town Planning experience \n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills \n
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail \n
- Confidence dealing with LPAs and stakeholders \n
- Working towards RTPI membership \n
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word essential) \n
- Commutable vicinity to the office in Hitchin SG5 \n
- A car driver preferably \n
