\nTransport Planner
\nJob Summary
\nThe Transport Planner is responsible for planning and controlling a dedicated fleet of approximately 15–20 vehicles, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective transport operations. The role includes day-to-day responsibility for driver costs and performance KPIs, while delivering high service levels and efficient vehicle utilisation.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Plan and manage daily and weekly transport activity for a fleet of 15–20 trucks \n
- Allocate vehicles and drivers to maximise utilisation and meet customer requirements \n
- Take ownership of assigned drivers, including day-to-day coordination and support \n
- Monitor and control driver-related costs (overtime, waiting time, inefficiencies) \n
- Ensure all planned movements comply with transport regulations and company procedures \n
- Monitor live operations and re-plan in response to delays, breakdowns, or short-notice changes \n
- Communicate clearly with drivers, operations, customers, and the planning team \n
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information within transport management systems \n
- Escalate service, cost, or compliance risks to the Planning Supervisor as required \n
Performance & KPIs
\nAccountable for performance across the allocated fleet, including:

- OTD (On Time Delivery) \n
- Vehicle utilisation and reduction of empty running \n
- Driver cost control (overtime, waiting time, inefficiencies) \n
- Compliance with ADR, driver hours, and company standards \n
- Service failures, delays, and cost variances \n
Health, Safety & Compliance

- Ensure all transport plans meet health, safety, and compliance requirements \n
- Escalate any safety or compliance concerns immediately \n
- Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement activity \n
Skills & Experience
\n- \n
- ADR Knowledge \n
- Experience in UK transport planning or logistics operations \n
- Confident managing a dedicated fleet and driver group \n
- Strong commercial awareness with a focus on cost control \n
- Ability to prioritise and make decisions in a fast-moving environment \n
- Good IT skills, including transport systems and Microsoft Office \n
- Clear communicator with drivers and operational stakeholders \n
Working Conditions
