Adult Social Care Lawyer
Job Description
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the North-West of England, who are recruiting for a Senior Solicitor for their Adult Social Care team on an initial three-month locum contract, with potential for extension.
\nThe position is due to start as soon as possible, and is offering circa £55 - £60 p/hour via an Umbrella company.
\nThe ideal candidate will have experience managing complex Adult Social Care matters within Local Government.
\nDuties will include (but are not limited to):
\n- \n
- Managing own caseload and undertaking advocacy where required \n
- Caseload will comprise the full range of adult social care matters, including proceedings and applications under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection welfare matters, Section 21A challenges, Deprivation of Liberty cases, inherent jurisdiction applications, adult safeguarding matters, community care issues, ordinary residence disputes, and Inquests \n
- Providing advice in relation to duties under the Care Act 2014 \n
- Advising on assessments, care and support planning, best interests decision-making, transitions from children's to adult services, and wider public law issues affecting Adult Social Care \n
- Participating in duty lawyer cover arrangements (during normal working hours), attending and providing legal advice at operational and safeguarding meetings as required \n
- Advising social workers, managers and senior officers, and providing timely, practical and solution-focused legal support on complex and sensitive matters involving vulnerable adults \n
Experience required:
