Job Description
Parts that get tooled and moulded at volume, not CAD that never leaves the screen. This consumer goods business in Cheltenham needs a contract Mechanical Design Engineer from August, paying £35–£40 per hour, to take consumer products through detailed design and into manufacture. Contract length confirmed on application.
\nScope of the Role
\nThe Mechanical Design Engineer will own the detailed mechanical design of consumer products, taking them from concept handover through to production-ready parts and assemblies.

- Produce detailed part and assembly designs in 3D CAD, ready for tooling \n
- Select materials and resolve mouldings, fixings and finishes for high-volume manufacture \n
- Prototype, test and iterate to prove function, robustness and cost \n
- Resolve DFM issues with manufacturing partners and toolmakers \n
- Work alongside industrial designers to protect design intent through engineering \n
Key Skills and Experience Required

- A proven background as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer or Mechanical Engineer in consumer products \n
- A solid grounding in injection moulding and other high-volume manufacturing processes \n
- Skilled in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar) for detailed part and assembly design \n
- Comfortable prototyping, testing and iterating at pace \n
- Available from August and able to work in Cheltenham \n
