Position Title: Expert Designer - Exterior

We are recruiting for our Coventry based Automotive customer who are looking to add an Expert Designer - Exterior to their permanent team.

Primary Purpose of the Job:

\n
• To support the Creative Exterior Design teams.
\n

Main Responsibilities:

\n
• Participate in all elements exterior design yet fundamentally to lead all development of concept ideas, renderings, tracking the digital models and clay models.
\n
• Good at cross-cultural communication and interpretation and complete the design plan according to the requirements.
\n
• Cooperate and guide the digital and physical model design.
\n
• Use display software’s to complete the analysis of product modelling reports, concept ideas, rendering expressions, etc.
\n
• Have experience in automotive design, with matured hand-drawing foundation and rendering ability, able to quickly capture creative ideas.
\n
• Photo realistic images of your design work.
\n

Principle Contacts/Working Relationships:

\n
• Role will report to Design Chief
\n
• Working with the exterior team, especially with the Principal Exterior Designer
\n
• Role will have deep cooperation with China team
\n

Decision Making Scope:

\n
• Define structure design concept;
\n
• Verification strategy of architecture.
\n

Key Challenges:

\n
• Communicating with Management and Key Stakeholders to get projects progressed through key gateways and senior reviews.
\n
• Interacting with multiple members of the design and engineering teams to produce the best possible designs.
\n

Education, Training and Experience:

\n
• 8 years of experience in automotive styling with key specific input to conceptual design (experience in OEM is preferred, depending on the ability to ease the number of years required);
\n
• Participate in 5 or more exterior styling design mass production projects; experience in creative design of luxury brand exterior/interior is preferred;
\n
• Familiar with exterior surface design and engineering constraints, with a good balance of design and constraints;
\n
• Industrial design and transportation design background from art colleges preferred;
\n
• Programs: Photoshop Illustrator Showcase Adobe Alias Adobe V Red and AI software.
\n

Skills & Personal Characteristics Required:

\n
• 8 years+ of senior level Exterior Design with a demonstrated history of working in the automotive industry. Skilled in Design Management, Alias Studio Tools, Lateral Thinking, and Sketching.
\n
• Strong arts and design professional with a master’s degree focused on Automotive Design.
\n
• Excellent sketch and rendering presentation skills;
\n
• Excellent communication skills, learning ability and teamwork spirit;
\n
• Proficiency in Photoshop, AI , Alias, Vred and other drawing software’s.
\n
