We're working with a highly regarded AJ100 architectural practice to recruit a Freelance Midweight Interior Designer for an initial contract opportunity. This is an excellent chance to join a well-established, multidisciplinary design studio with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality workplace and commercial projects across the UK.

We're looking for a confident and technically capable interior designer with around 3–6 years' professional experience, who is comfortable supporting projects from concept through to delivery. You'll be joining a collaborative interiors team and will play a key role in producing design documentation, coordinating with consultants, and supporting client presentations.

The Role

\n

As a Midweight Interior Designer, you'll work closely with senior designers and architects across a range of workplace and commercial fit-out projects, contributing to both the creative and technical delivery of schemes.

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Attend client meetings, workshops and project reviews where required.
  • \n
  • Assist in preparing presentation material and design documentation for client presentations.
  • \n
  • Coordinate with external consultants, suppliers and manufacturers throughout the design process.
  • \n
  • Produce high-quality interior design drawing packages, layouts and detailed design information.
  • \n
  • Prepare FF&E schedules, material palettes and specifications.
  • \n
  • Coordinate interior design packages alongside architectural and consultant information.
  • \n
  • Contribute to internal design reviews and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • \n
  • Support the efficient organisation and delivery of project information throughout all design stages.

About You

\n

You'll be a proactive and collaborative designer who enjoys working within a fast-paced studio environment and has a strong technical grounding.

\n

Essential Experience

\n
    \n
  • Approximately 3–6 years' experience within interior design or interior architecture.
  • \n
  • Proven experience delivering commercial and workplace interior projects.
  • \n
  • Strong technical ability with experience producing accurate design documentation.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication, organisation and coordination skills.
  • \n
  • Comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary design teams.
  • \n

Desirable

    \n
  • Experience working within a BIM/Revit workflow.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and workplace design standards.
  • \n
  • Experience preparing FF&E schedules, specifications and material selections.
  • \n
  • Previous experience within a multidisciplinary architectural or design practice.
  • \n
