Job Description
Job Title: Employment Solicitor – Public Sector Employment (NQ - 4 Years PQE)
\nSalary: £35,000 +
\nLocation: North West (Preston)
\nAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join a well-established and highly regarded Employment team in a Top tier Legal 500 firm in the North West. This role offers the chance to work in a supportive, collaborative environment while managing a varied caseload of public sector employment matters.
\nThe Role
\nYou will advise a broad range of public sector clients, with work primarily involving the education, housing and local government sectors. The role includes both contentious and non-contentious employment matters, providing excellent exposure to complex and rewarding work.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Managing a varied caseload of public sector employment matters, including settlement agreements. \n
- Representing clients at Employment Tribunal hearings, including cases involving: \n
- Unfair dismissal \n
- Discrimination \n
- TUPE \n
- Redundancy \n
- Safeguarding issues \n
- Providing clear, practical legal advice to clients. \n
- Managing communications with clients, tribunals, opposing parties and other stakeholders. \n
- Representing clients at internal hearings, including disciplinary, grievance, dismissal and appeal hearings, as well as conducting workplace investigations. \n
- Supporting colleagues on complex matters and contributing to wider team objectives. \n
- Delivering employment law training and presentations to clients. \n
- Working alongside senior lawyers on complex and high-profile cases. \n
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships while contributing to business development initiatives. \n
About You
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent) with up to 4 years' PQE. \n
- Experience working within an employment law team. \n
- Previous Employment Tribunal experience. \n
- Strong knowledge of employment matters including unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE and redundancy. \n
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. \n
- Proven ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines and achieve performance targets. \n
- A collaborative approach with strong communication and client care skills. \n
Desirable
\n- \n
- Advocacy experience. \n
- Experience advising clients in the education, housing or local authority sectors. \n
- Experience delivering client training or presentations. \n
