Building Regulations PD - Architectural
Job Description
There's a Building Regulations consultancy hiding inside your practice. It's you. You're just not paid like one and don't get the usual perks and benefits.
\nIf you're the practice's answer on the Building Regs. The gateway submissions, the BSA duties, the compliance calls nobody else wants to make but at review time you're still an architect on an architect's salary, then this is your opportunity to make a life changing decision.
\nClient side, working with the consultants, that same work pays you £65,000 to £70,000 here. With significant bonuses, a much higher ceiling, incredible flexibility and lots of other benefits.
\nBenefits like as much working from home as you can handle and the ability to choose how and when you work. Family is important to them, and I don't mean work family, I mean your real family. You don't need to hide where and when you need to pick up the kids or get some gym time in, you don't even need to ask.
\n29 days holiday to start ending on 32 days after 5 years. You'll be able to afford decent holidays too. The average bonus is £5000.
\nWhen it comes to over time, it really doesn't exist apart from on very odd occasions for some and is never asked for and never expected. You'll get to shut your laptop on time every day, and the nature of the job means you'll never take stress into the weekends or time off.
\nWhat you'll be doing
\n• BR Principal Designer duties on Non-HRBs & HRBs: Gateway 2 and 3 applications, BSR liaison and compliance direction for clients and design teams.
\n• Reviewing designs, details and specifications against the regulations.
\n• Advising clients directly. They come to you for the answer.
\nWhat you'll need
\n• HRB experience since the BSA came in. You'll have taken a scheme through Gateway 2, or been hands-on in one that got there. Pre-Act HRB work alone won't get you through.
\n• An architectural background with working knowledge of the Building Regulations.
\n• The temperament for consultancy. Client facing, organised, comfortable giving a straight answer.
