Our client, a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke automation and control system solutions across industrial, manufacturing and marine sectors, is looking for an experienced Controls & Automation Engineer (PLC/SCADA) to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven automation professional to play a key role in the design, development, testing and commissioning of advanced control systems, working on complex, one-off projects from concept through to completion.

The Nitty Gritty:

\n

As a Controls & Automation Engineer, you'll be:

\n

Designing and developing PLC and SCADA control systems for bespoke engineering projects.

\n

Producing functional design specifications and supporting project documentation.

\n

Programming PLC systems to meet customer and project requirements.

\n

Developing SCADA applications and operator interfaces.

\n

Designing and implementing distributed network architectures for industrial and marine installations.

\n

Selecting PLC hardware and field devices in line with project specifications.

\n

Working alongside Mechanical Design, Production, Project Management and Quality teams to ensure successful project delivery.

\n

Supporting design reviews, technical meetings and customer discussions throughout the project lifecycle.

\n

Assisting with bid proposals, technical support and customer liaison activities.

\n

Testing and commissioning systems both in-house and at customer sites, including UK and international travel when required.

\n

Providing technical support for service engineers and resolving customer queries.

\n

Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the design and engineering function.

\n

\n

Permanent, full-time position with a well-established engineering company.

\n

Opportunity to work on complex, bespoke automation projects from design through to commissioning.

\n

Suitable for an experienced Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer or PLC/SCADA Engineer.

\n

Proven experience programming Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE or similar PLC platforms is essential.

\n

Previous experience with SCADA packages such as Wonderware, Cimplicity, Genesis or equivalent is desirable.

\n

Knowledge of distributed network design and implementation is highly advantageous.

\n

HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline preferred.

\n

Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

\n

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

\n

Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas for commissioning and customer support activities.

\n

Hours:

\n

37 hours per week.

\n

Monday to Thursday: 08:00 16:45.

\n

Friday: 08:00 12:00.

\n

Flexibility required to work additional hours when operationally necessary.

\n

Pay & Benefits:

\n

Salaryfrom £55,000-£65,000 DOE

\n

33 days annual leave including statutory holidays.

\n
