Wave Dynamics Acoustic Consultants (http://www.wdacoustics.com) are seeking a Senior or Principal Acoustic Consultant with a strong background in building acoustics to join our growing team. This role is UK-based, supporting projects across both the UK and Ireland.

This is an opportunity for an experienced consultant to take on a technical leadership role, contributing to the delivery of high-quality building acoustics work while supporting business growth and shaping the future direction of the company.

The Opportunity\n

This role is suited to an experienced consultant (6–10+ years’ experience) looking to:

  • Lead technically complex building acoustics projects
  • \n
  • Take ownership of client relationships
  • \n
  • Play a key role in a growing consultancy with clear progression to senior leadership
  • \n
\n


Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Lead and manage building acoustics projects from concept through completion
  • \n
  • Deliver detailed design advice on:
  • \n
  • Sound insulation (Part E / TGD-E compliance)
  • \n
  • Internal ambient noise
  • \n
  • Building services noise and vibration
  • \n
  • Room acoustics (where relevant)
  • \n
  • Undertake and oversee:
  • \n
  • Acoustic modelling (e.g. INSUL, Odeon, EASE)
  • \n
  • Sound insulation testing and reporting
  • \n
  • Technical calculations in line with ISO / BS standards
  • \n
  • Provide clear, practical advice to architects, developers, and contractors
  • \n
  • Support and mentor junior staff in technical delivery and reporting
  • \n
  • Contribute to business development, including proposal preparation and client engagement
  • \n
  • Maintain high-quality, report-ready technical outputs
  • \n
Minimum Requirements\n
    \n
  • Strong experience in building acoustics consultancy with a proven project track record
  • \n
  • Solid understanding of:
  • \n
  • Part E / TGD-E
  • \n
  • BS and ISO acoustic standards
  • \n
  • Acoustic design for residential and mixed-use developments
  • \n
  • Experience with:
  • \n
  • INSUL, SoundPlan (or equivalent), and room acoustics software
  • \n
  • Strong technical reporting and communication skills
  • \n
  • Ability to manage projects and client relationships independently
  • \n
  • Full driver’s licence
  • \n
Desirable Experience\n
    \n
  • Experience across both UK and Irish regulatory environments
  • \n
  • Membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA or working towards)
  • \n
  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g. IOA Diploma or MSc in Acoustics)
  • \n
  • Experience in environmental acoustics (supporting role)
  • \n
