Job Description

Events Manager

\n

£38,000–£40,000 | Hybrid Working (2 days per week in the London office)

\n

\n

Are you an experienced conference professional looking to take the next step in your career?

\n

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading international professional membership organisation for an Events Manager to take ownership of a varied portfolio of conferences, webinars and technical events.

\n

\n

This is not a typical membership events role. A key part of the position is managing the end-to-end conference paper process, including the Call for Papers, abstract administration, author liaison and programme coordination. You'll work closely with technical committees and subject matter experts who oversee peer review and paper acceptance, whilst taking operational ownership of the entire conference lifecycle.

\n

\n

Alongside delivering exceptional events, you'll identify opportunities to grow delegate attendance, maximise sponsorship value and strengthen year-round engagement through conferences, webinars and technical events. You'll also support volunteer branches and committees, helping to build an engaged global professional community.

\n

\n

The Role

\n
    \n
  • Lead the planning and delivery of a portfolio of conferences, technical events, webinars, networking events and member engagement activities.
  • \n
  • Take operational ownership of the complete conference process, including Call for Papers administration, abstract management, author communications, programme coordination and event delivery.
  • \n
  • Coordinate the peer review process, working closely with technical committees and volunteer reviewers to ensure deadlines and conference milestones are met.
  • \n
  • Support authors throughout the submission process and coordinate final conference programmes and speaker information.
  • \n
  • Work with Marketing colleagues to maximise delegate registrations, audience engagement and event visibility.
  • \n
  • Identify opportunities to increase delegate attendance, enhance sponsorship value and improve the commercial performance of the events portfolio.
  • \n
  • Build strong relationships with speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, suppliers and industry stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Monitor budgets, delegate feedback and event performance, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • \n
  • Support volunteer branches with local events and engagement initiatives, strengthening member participation across the wider organisation.
  • \n
  • Contribute ideas for new conferences, webinars and engagement opportunities that support organisational growth.
  • \n
\n

\n

Essential Experience

\n

To be successful in this role you'll bring experience of managing technical, scientific or academic conferences that include a formal Call for Papers process.

\n

\n

You'll have experience of:

\n
    \n
  • Managing conferences involving a formal Call for Papers process (essential).
  • \n
  • Coordinating abstract submissions, author communications and conference programme development.
  • \n
  • Working alongside technical committees, academics, reviewers or subject matter experts within a peer review environment.
  • \n
  • Managing multiple conference projects simultaneously from planning through to successful delivery.
  • \n
  • Building positive relationships with speakers, sponsors, volunteers and external suppliers.
  • \n
  • Working collaboratively with marketing teams to increase delegate registrations and audience engagement.
  • \n
  • Managing event budgets and using performance data to improve future events.
  • \n
\n

Experience within a professional body, learned society, membership organisation or other volunteer-led organisation would be highly advantageous.

\n

Why Apply?

\n

This is an exciting opportunity to join an internationally respected membership organisation and take ownership of a diverse portfolio of conferences that support knowledge sharing and professional excellence across a global technical community.

\n

You'll work alongside recognised industry experts, gain exposure to internationally respected technical conferences, and play a key role in growing commercially successful events that deliver real value to members, delegates and sponsors alike.
