Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Location: Lancaster | Days - Monday to Friday The Opportunity Our client is a well-established and growing organisation within the agricultural and manufacturing sector, and we are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team at a large-scale production facility in Lancaster. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and is confident carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and mechanical repairs on industrial plant and machinery. You will play an important role in maintaining the reliability, safety and efficiency of the site, helping to minimise downtime and ensure production runs smoothly. The Role Working as part of the wider engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining a range of industrial production equipment and supporting the site's operational requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site. Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime. Maintaining plant and machinery to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation. Responding to breakdowns and prioritising repairs according to operational requirements. Supporting planned maintenance shutdowns and ensuring work is completed safely and on schedule. Working closely with production and operational teams to maintain plant availability. Ensuring engineering activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation. Working safely under Permit to Work, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), Working at Height and Hot Work procedures. Maintaining appropriate levels of engineering spares and identifying potential issues before they affect production. Keeping work areas clean, organised and compliant with health, safety and environmental standards. Participating in the site's on-call maintenance rota and providing out-of-hours support when required. Supporting continuous improvement and ongoing development of engineering standards and practices. Essential experience and skills: Previous engineering maintenance experience within a bulk handling, manufacturing or production environment. Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills. Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance. Good understanding of industrial health and safety practices, including LOTO, hot works and working at height. Strong problem-solving skills with a logical and structured approach to fault diagnosis. Ability to remain calm and effective when responding to breakdowns and changing priorities. Desirable: NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification. Experience using maintenance management software / CMMS systems. Experience within agricultural, feed mill, bulk handling or similar heavy industrial environments
