Our client is a global Fortune 500 engineering and technology conglomerate with multi-billion-dollar annual revenue and a presence spanning over 300 subsidiaries worldwide.
\nAs a market leader in the global industrial, energy and infrastructure sectors, the group is rapidly expanding its high-voltage transmission and power grid infrastructure operations across the UK, Europe and the broader EMEA region. To support this growth, they are seeking an exceptional Senior Legal Counsel to join their London-based legal team.
\nThe Role
\nReporting directly to the Head of Legal, this is a broad-ranging, business-critical role embedded within complex, high-value energy infrastructure projects. You will act as a senior trusted advisor, driving contract negotiations, supporting major tender activities and shaping legal strategy across the EMEA region.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Strategic Business Advising: Provide proactive, commercially focused legal counsel across power infrastructure operations, reinforcing a culture of compliance, risk management and operational excellence. \n
- Complex EPC Negotiations: Lead contract negotiations for large-scale energy infrastructure projects, managing the lifecycle from ITT mark-ups to internal risk approvals and final client negotiations. \n
- Subcontracts & Project Execution: Review, draft, and negotiate Supply & Installation (SMA), offshore/onshore Transportation & Installation (T&I) subcontracts, and related project documentation to support tendering and delivery. \n
- Process & Framework Development: Develop and maintain legal processes, precedent templates, and departmental governance aligned with wider global objectives. \n
- Stakeholder & External Counsel Oversight: Manage relationships with key commercial stakeholders and oversee external panel law firms, including fee structures and budget management. \n
- Training & Mentorship: Deliver legal and risk management training across UK and European operational teams. \n
Candidate Profile

- Qualification & Experience: Solicitor of England & Wales with 10+ years’ PQE gained in a fast-paced, project-driven corporate or in-house environment. \n
- Sector Expertise: Direct experience leading high-value EPC contract negotiations within Energy Infrastructure, Power Transmission, Offshore Renewables, or Heavy Civil Engineering. \n
- Standard Forms: Strong working knowledge of standard contract frameworks, specifically FIDIC and NEC suites. \n
- Leadership & Influence: Proven track record in senior stakeholder management, with the ability to lead legal strategy and influence cross-functional commercial teams. \n
- Personal Attributes: Results-driven, resilient under pressure, highly adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple complex project matters to tight deadlines. \n
- Travel & Work Authorization: Full UK right to work required. Willingness to undertake occasional international travel (approx. 10–20%). \n
