HSE Manager – Commercial Office Fit-Out Design & Build

Overview

A growing Design & Build fit-out contractor is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to take ownership of all Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance across multiple live sites and office operations.

This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for maintaining and developing a strong safety culture while managing ISO 45001 accreditation, external audits, and site compliance across fast-paced commercial fit-out projects.

The role will suit an individual from a construction, fit-out, or interiors Design & Build background who is comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on within live project environments.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for leading and continuously improving all HSE systems, including:

• Full ownership and management of ISO 45001 accreditation, including ongoing compliance, audits, documentation, and continual improvement.
\n
• Acting as the main point of contact for external auditors, certification bodies, and regulatory inspections.
\n
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining company-wide Health & Safety policies and procedures.
\n
• Conducting regular site inspections and audits across multiple live fit-out projects throughout London and the surrounding areas.
\n
• Ensuring full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and industry best practice.
\n
• Supporting project teams with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and safe systems of work.
\n
• Leading incident investigations, reporting, and corrective/preventative actions.
\n
• Delivering Health & Safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks across project sites.
\n
• Driving a proactive safety culture amongst site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
\n
• Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial Teams, and Directors to embed compliance throughout project delivery.
\n
• Maintaining accurate reporting dashboards and HSE performance metrics.
\n

Key Requirements

\n
• Proven experience as an HSE Manager or Senior Health & Safety Advisor.
\n
• Strong background within construction, commercial fit-out, or Design & Build interiors.
\n
• Hands-on experience managing ISO 45001 certification (essential).
\n
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK construction Health & Safety legislation.
\n
• Experience liaising with external auditors and certification bodies.
\n
• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification) preferred.
\n
• Tech IOSH, Grad IOSH, or Chartered IOSH status (or working towards).
\n
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both site teams and senior management.
\n
• Comfortable working within a fast-paced, multi-site project environment.
\n
• Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and compliance documentation.
\n
