Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEN 1:1 Support Assistant to join our outstanding setting on a temporary basis. This rewarding role involves providing individualised support to a primary school-aged child with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, develop independence, and thrive both academically and socially. This is initially a temporary position, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate who demonstrates commitment, professionalism, and a passion for supporting children with additional needs. Key responsibilities: * Support the child to access learning activities, promoting engagement, confidence, and independence. * Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to implement tailored strategies that meet the child's individual needs. * Adapt resources and learning activities to enable the child to participate fully in the curriculum. * Support the child's social, emotional, communication, and behavioural development using positive and consistent approaches. * Monitor, record, and report on the child's progress, contributing to reviews and target setting. * Encourage positive relationships with peers and promote inclusion within the classroom and wider school community. We are looking for someone who: * Has experience supporting primary-aged children with SEND in a school or educational setting. * Has a good understanding of a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, sensory processing differences, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. * Demonstrates patience, empathy, resilience, and excellent communication skills. * Can build positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues. * Is proactive, adaptable, and able to use initiative while working as part of a team. * Is committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
