We nurture our pupils and develop the characteristics and qualities we know they will need to build bright futures.About the RoleThe Physical Education Teacher enables all children of mixed ability, in all years to become enthusiastic and reach their potential in Physical Education. This combines delivering sport for all with the drive to excel in all areas which is part of the Meoncross mission and vision.The school is seeking an exceptional & inspiring Qualified Teacher of Physical Education, to join a very successful and enthusiastic team. The teaching of a range of sports is vital and the teaching for this post could be at any age in the school from Nursery to Year 11, so any candidate is expected to have the necessary qualifications and experience to deliver PE safely and effectively.You will also be asked to teach a variety of other sports throughout the academic year to all key stages, including Football, Basketball, Cross-Country, Cricket, Athletics, and Tennis.We expect effective teaching of all pupils, helping them to develop both inside and outside the classroom, and all staff must support the policies and aims of the school to ensure the good social, emotional and physical development of every child.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons across all Key Stages in line with the National Curriculum.Plan, prepare and assess lessons that support pupil progress and achievement.Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND and those who are more able.Promote a positive learning environment that encourages participation, wellbeing and healthy lifestyles.Lead and support extracurricular sports clubs, competitions, fixtures and enrichment activities.Contribute to the development of the school's PE and sporting programme.Maintain high standards of health and safety, including the safe use of PE equipment and facilities.Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external partners to enhance sporting opportunities for pupils.Uphold the school's safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all children and young people.Act as a positive role model, maintaining professional standards at all times.About YouEssentialDegree-level qualification relevant to Physical Education or SportExperience delivering a range of sports and physical activities to children and young peopleStrong understanding of effective teaching, learning and behaviour management strategiesExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsAbility to motivate, inspire and engage pupils of all abilitiesStrong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and work independentlyCompetent IT skillsFlexible, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a teamCommitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young peopleWillingness to contribute to extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures and school eventsDesirableQualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.Experience working within a school environmentStrong subject knowledge across a wide range of sportsFirst Aid qualificationExperience supporting pupils with diverse learning and behavioural needs.Ability to contribute new ideas to enhance the PE curriculum and sporting provisionPersonal QualitiesPositive, enthusiastic and approachablePassionate about sport and promoting healthy lifestylesPatient, adaptable and resilientCommitted to helping pupils achieve their full potentialAble to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues and the wider communityBenefitsLunch during term timeSchool fee discountShopping discountsMeoncross School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment.
