Job Description

As a Supervisor and multiskilled Shift Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production machinery and site services within a fast paced food manufacturing environment. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting production targets.

    \n
  • Lead on shift team of engineers (3 direct reports per shift)
  • \n
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging equipment
  • \n
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform effective fault diagnosis and repair
  • \n
  • Ensure all machinery operates in line with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP)
  • \n
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete all documentation
  • \n
  • Work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize performance
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times
  • \n
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • \n
  • Monitor and maintain utilities (e.g., steam, refrigeration, compressed air systems)
  • \n
  • Identify root causes of recurring faults and implement corrective actions
  • \n
  • \n

Profile

\n

A successful Multiskilled Shift Engineer should have:

\n
    \n
  • Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
  • \n
  • Electrical certification (e.g., 18th Edition) - desirable
  • \n
  • Hands-on experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance within an FMCG environment.
  • \n
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in an engineering and manufacturing setting.
  • \n
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
  • \n

Location: Wrexham

£56,000

\n

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 2 days and 2 nights (7am - 7pm & 7pm -7am)

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Maintenance Manager
