Join our dedicated Sheffield DoLS Team as a Business Support Officer. This role is crucial in supporting the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), a legal framework designed to protect vulnerable individuals in hospital or care home settings by ensuring that any restrictions on their freedom are lawful, necessary, and in their best interests.
\nDay-to-day of the role:
\n- \n
- Process DoLS Form 1 applications and all associated documentation. \n
- Record and process DoLS applications and related forms on the Liquidlogic Adults System (LAS). \n
- Handle hospital DoLS applications and withdrawal requests. \n
- Submit enquiries to the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). \n
- Upload and maintain electronic documents, reports, and case records. \n
- Update and maintain relevant spreadsheets and tracking systems. \n
- Respond to enquiries and chaser requests from care homes. \n
- Arrange and book interpreters as required. \n
- Coordinate room bookings and handle telephone enquiries. \n
- Provide administrative support and respond to requests from supervisory bodies and partner organisations. \n
- Process notifications of death and update records accordingly. \n
- Complete pending renewal tray checks and monitor outstanding actions. \n
- Collate documentation for Social Workers and other professionals. \n
- Prepare and provide legal documentation to the legal department when requested. \n
- Supply documentation to Best Interests Assessors (BIAs) as required. \n
- Process DoLS authorisations and renewals, including both high and low priority renewals. \n
- Support the administration of Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments and weekly allocation processes. \n
- Liaise with advocates and Independent Mental Capacity Advocates (IMCAs), responding to enquiries and providing administrative support. \n
Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Excellent concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail. \n
- Ability to manage a varied and demanding workload. \n
- Experience in handling sensitive and confidential information. \n
- Proficient in using office software and systems, particularly databases. \n
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. \n
- Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable. \n
