An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Governance Manager to join a well-established, community-focused housing organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

\n

This role will play a key part in supporting the organisation's governance, risk management and compliance activities, whilst helping to embed a strong culture of accountability and assurance across the business.

\n

Working closely with senior leaders and board members, you will provide expert governance support, oversee risk management processes, and help develop management capability through the delivery of risk and governance training.

\n

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Lead and coordinate governance and risk activities across the organisation.
  • \n
  • Support the Board, Committees and Executive Team with governance advice and administration.
  • \n
  • Maintain and develop governance frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • \n
  • Manage and develop the corporate risk management framework and risk register.
  • \n
  • Work with managers to identify, assess and mitigate key strategic and operational risks.
  • \n
  • Deliver training and guidance to managers on risk management, governance and assurance.
  • \n
  • Support regulatory compliance and ensure governance obligations are met.
  • \n
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and monitor the implementation of recommendations.
  • \n
  • Produce high-quality reports, board papers and governance updates.
  • \n
  • Drive continuous improvement across governance and risk processes.
  • \n

About You

\n

We are seeking a governance professional with the ability to influence stakeholders, build strong relationships and promote best practice across the organisation.

\n

You will have:

\n
    \n
  • Experience within a governance, risk, compliance or company secretariat role. Experience within housing or the public sector would be advantageous.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of governance frameworks, risk management and assurance processes.
  • \n
  • Experience supporting Boards, Committees or senior leadership teams.
  • \n
  • The confidence and credibility to train, coach and advise managers.
  • \n
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • \n
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
  • \n
