Chief Scientific Officer
Job Description
Chief Scientific Officer (CSO)
\nCardiff, UK | Relocation Support & Visa Sponsorship Available
\nBuild the scientific direction of a next-generation AI-enabled biotech.
\nAntiverse is looking for a Chief Scientific Officer to help shape the next chapter of the company. This is a rare opportunity to join an AI-driven antibody discovery business at a pivotal stage of growth and determine not only which programmes move forward, but what the company becomes over the next decade.
\nWe're looking for a scientific leader who can combine deep disease biology expertise with exceptional strategic judgement, helping to connect biology, technology, AI and therapeutics into a differentiated platform and pipeline.
\nAbout Antiverse
\nAntiverse is an AI-driven biotech company developing antibodies against some of the most difficult targets in medicine, including GPCRs and ion channels.
\nBy combining machine learning, advanced cell engineering, antibody discovery and high-throughput biology, the company is building a platform designed to create therapeutics that were previously difficult or impossible to discover.
\nThe next phase of growth is not simply about discovering more antibodies.
\nIt's about building a world-class, disease-informed platform capable of repeatedly generating better therapeutic opportunities.
\nCurrent areas of focus include:
\n- \n
- Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) \n
- MASH / metabolic disease \n
- Inflammatory diseases \n
- Complex biologics and antibody therapeutics \n
The Opportunity
\nYou will work directly with the CEO, leadership team, board, investors and scientific teams to determine:
\n- \n
- Which disease areas Antiverse should prioritise \n
- Which targets deserve investment \n
- Which datasets should be generated \n
- Which biological systems should be built \n
- How experimental biology and AI should work together \n
- How the platform evolves over time \n
- How programmes are progressed from hypothesis to partner-ready assets \n
This role is as much about scientific judgement as it is scientific expertise.
\nWhat You'll Be Responsible For
\n- \n
- Defining Antiverse's scientific strategy and long-term direction \n
- Building and evolving therapeutic area strategy \n
- Advancing programmes within IPF and MASH \n
- Leading target identification and prioritisation activities \n
- Developing disease-informed platform strategy \n
- Guiding translational biology and pharmacology efforts \n
- Defining in vitro and in vivo validation strategies \n
- Working closely with AI and machine learning teams to shape dataset generation \n
- Leading progression of antibody programmes from discovery through preclinical development \n
- Supporting partnering, licensing and external collaborations \n
- Acting as a key scientific representative for investors, pharmaceutical partners and advisors \n
- Building and mentoring a high-performing scientific organisation \n
What We're Looking For
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Significant scientific leadership experience within biotech or pharmaceutical drug discovery \n
- Deep expertise in IPF, MASH, fibrosis, metabolic disease, inflammation or closely related biology \n
- Strong biologics and/or antibody discovery background \n
- Experience progressing programmes through discovery and preclinical development \n
- Strong translational biology expertise \n
- Experience leading multidisciplinary scientific teams \n
- Track record of portfolio, target selection and programme prioritisation decisions \n
- Ability to communicate complex science to investors, boards and external partners \n
- Strategic mindset with the ability to connect science and commercial impact \n
Highly Desirable
\n- \n
- Previous CSO or senior executive scientific leadership experience \n
- GPCR biology expertise \n
- Ion channel biology expertise \n
- AI-enabled drug discovery experience \n
- TechBio experience \n
- Fundraising exposure \n
- Licensing and partnering experience \n
- Experience building platform companies rather than individual therapeutic programmes \n
Who Will Thrive Here?
\nYou'll likely be a fit if you:
\n- \n
- Think beyond individual assets and programmes \n
- Enjoy connecting disease biology, technology and therapeutic strategy \n
- Are comfortable making difficult portfolio decisions \n
- Can operate at both scientific and executive level \n
- Are excited by ambiguity and company-building \n
- Want genuine influence over the future direction of a business \n
- Are motivated by building something rather than maintaining it \n
Package
\n- \n
- Competitive base salary \n
- Meaningful stock option package \n
- Private medical insurance \n
- Flexible working hours \n
- Relocation support \n
- Visa sponsorship available for exceptional candidates \n
- Modern office and laboratory facilities \n
- Equipment allowance \n
- 25 days annual leave plus public holidays \n
- Additional Summer Fridays \n
