\nAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Transport Planner to join a well-established and growing transport planning consultancy in London. As a senior member of the team, you'll play a key role in leading the delivery of complex development planning projects across London and the South East, while supporting the continued growth of the business.
\nWorking on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, education, healthcare, life sciences and regeneration developments, you'll provide strategic transport advice from initial feasibility through to planning approval. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-profile projects, manage key client relationships and mentor junior team members within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

\nThe Role
\nAs a Principal Transport Planner, you will:

- Lead the delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and wider transport planning reports for a range of development projects. \n
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and the highest technical standards. \n
- Provide strategic transport planning advice throughout the planning application process. \n
- Oversee trip generation, junction capacity assessments, transport modelling and sustainable transport strategies. \n
- Review and sign off technical reports prepared by junior members of the team. \n
- Liaise directly with clients, local authorities, Transport for London, architects and multidisciplinary design teams. \n
- Attend client meetings, planning discussions and stakeholder consultations. \n
- Support business development by preparing fee proposals and identifying new opportunities. \n
- Mentor and develop Assistant and Transport Planners, providing technical guidance and support. \n
- Keep up to date with national planning policy, London Plan guidance and industry best practice. \n
About You
\nThe successful candidate will have:
\n- \n
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography or a related discipline. \n
- Typically 6+ years' experience within transport planning, with a strong background in development planning. \n
- Proven experience preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans. \n
- A strong understanding of the UK planning system and development management process. \n
- Experience working on projects within London or other major urban environments. \n
- Experience using software such as Junctions 10, LinSig, TRICS and TEMPro. \n
- Excellent report writing, communication and client-facing skills. \n
- Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. \n
- The ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to team development. \n
- Membership of, or progression towards, a relevant professional institution such as CIHT or TPS (desirable). \n
