Long-Term Locum Dentist – Urgent Care Focus

We are looking for experienced, confident dentists to join our busy NHS urgent care centre in Woolston, Southampton. This is not a routine general practice role—this position is suited to clinicians who thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoy the challenge of emergency dentistry.

What You Need to Know

This is a dedicated emergency and stabilisation service. Our focus is on relieving pain, managing urgent conditions, and stabilising patients—not delivering comprehensive courses of treatment.

• You will typically see 35–45 patients per day
\n
• Patient flow includes NHS 111 referrals, walk-ins, and stabilisation cases
\n
• No two days are the same adaptability is key
\n

We are looking for clinicians who can work efficiently without compromising patient care, and who are comfortable making quick, sound clinical decisions.

Performance & UDA Expectations

• Daily UDA targets apply (details provided on enquiry)
\n
• Overachievement is paid at £/UDA
\n
• No financial penalties for underperformance
\n

This structure is designed to reward productivity while maintaining a supportive working environment.

What We’re Looking For

\n
• GDC registered dentist
\n
• Valid NHS performer number (unconditional)
\n
• Experience in general dentistry (urgent care experience desirable)
\n
• Up-to-date indemnity and immunisation records
\n

You’ll also need to be:

• A strong communicator—clear coordination with nurses and front desk is essential
\n
• Able to work at pace while maintaining quality care
\n
• Comfortable in a high-throughput clinical setting
\n

Shifts available:

\n
• Monday: 8:00–17:00
\n
• Wednesday: 8:00–17:00
\n
• Friday: 8:00–17:00
\n
• Saturday: 8:00–14:00
\n
• Sunday: 8:00–14:00
\n
• Day rate: £600 during the week, £450 Saturday and Sunday
\n
• Travel expenses: Negotiable
\n
