The Nigh Shift Engineer will implement strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, maximising efficiency, optimising production levels and driving operational excellence. Through tactical responsibility for the engineering function the job holder will lead maintenance of buildings and maximising efficiency and output through preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, contractor management, supplier management and budgetary/cost reporting.

People Management

  1. Engage with the operational team to ensure the current policies and procedures of the business are fully understood and implemented
  2. \n
  3. Develop a good work ethic among the operational staff, encouraging mutual trust, respect, and cooperation
  4. \n
  5. Liaise and negotiate with customers and suppliers
  6. \n
  7. Respond to any management/customer/supplier queries quickly and effectively
  8. \n
  9. Comply with all food hygiene requirements and company procedures
  10. \n
  11. Comply with all health and safety requirements, following company policies and procedures

  1. Analyse data or information identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts by breaking down information or data into separate parts

Engineering

\n

  1. Set direction for function and contribute to formalising of site strategic and tactical goals;
  2. \n
  3. Lead the preventative management programmes for facility and machinery during the night operation;
  4. \n
  5. Undertake reactive maintenance with corrective action plan to reduce mean time for failure;
  6. \n
  7. Contractor, supplier, and sourcing management to budgetary cost;
  8. \n
  9. Working closely with Maintenance Manger on the Management of maintenance budget;
  10. \n
  11. Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health & safety, food safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors;
  12. \n
  13. Improve production and packing equipment effectiveness, driving increased machine reliability through optimized maintenance program;
  14. \n
  15. Project manage new installs and refurbishments;
  16. \n
  17. Assist in team projects and any other reasonable tasks;
  18. \n

General

\n

This is an extremely fast paced position within the company, and you will interact with most company departments. Working hours are 9pm to 6am Sunday to Thursday and also irregular hours will be influenced by problems needing instant action. You will be working in a temperature-controlled environment.

Personal Specification

\n
    \n
  1. Good Communication Skills in English (interpersonal, listening, written and oral) and a working knowledge of English
  2. \n
  3. Qualified Engineer in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation or Process Engineering
  4. \n
  5. 3 years of experience in a similar role, demonstrated track record preferably in an FMCG
  6. \n
  7. Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities
  8. \n
  9. Good planning, organisational and time management skills
  10. \n
  11. Experience of Food Hygiene and importance of good Health and Safety practice and procedures
  12. \n
  13. Good basic physical fitness for a physically demanding role
  14. \n
  15. Be trustworthy and reliable
  16. \n
  17. Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software, e-mail and the internet
  18. \n
  19. Ability to take accountability, make decisions and work on own initiative without supervision
  20. \n
  21. A flexible approach to work to meet the needs of the business and the role
  22. \n
  23. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of human relations skills, principles and team building processes
