\nPosition Summary
\nReporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the R&D Manager is responsible for the planning, delivery, and oversight of our client's Research and Development activities. The role provides scientific, technical, and people leadership to Project Teams and Technology R&D Teams, ensuring R&D programs are delivered efficiently, on time, and in compliance with our client's quality systems and regulatory requirements.
\nThe R&D Manager leads R&D staff, oversees laboratory operations and resources, and drives continuous improvement across R&D processes. They will act as Program Lead for Molecule Projects and/or Technology R&D Programs and will play a key role in the continued growth and development of our client's R&D function.
\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities

- Report directly to the COO and provide regular updates on R&D performance and project status \n
- Line manage Senior Scientists, Scientists, and other R&D personnel \n
- Plan, prioritise, and deliver R&D projects and programs in line with business objectives \n
- Provide scientific and technical oversight of experimental design, data quality, interpretation, and reporting \n
- Identify and remove technical and operational bottlenecks while proactively managing project risks \n
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality and regulatory standards \n
- Contribute to and implement best practices to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness across the R&D function \n
- Review and approve technical reports, presentations, and publications \n
- Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development within the R&D team \n
Required Qualifications
\n- \n
- PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline, or an MSc with significant relevant industry experience \n
- Experience working within the biotechnology industry \n
- Demonstrated success leading R&D projects and managing scientific teams \n
- Strong expertise in analytical techniques, including SEC-HPLC, SEM, Micro-BCA, Microscopy, IEC-HPLC, ELISA, and SDS-PAGE \n
- Experience in formulation and drug delivery \n
- Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and decision-making capabilities \n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills \n
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with biologics and/or polymer development \n
- Experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and/or cGMP regulated environments \n
