About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and capable Transport Planner to join our Development Planning team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, education, healthcare, and employment developments, supporting clients through all stages of the planning process.

\n


\n

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will prepare transport planning assessments, provide technical advice, and help deliver successful planning outcomes for a wide range of projects across Yorkshire, the North of England, and the wider UK.

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for planning applications.
  • \n
  • Undertake transport analysis and junction capacity assessments using industry-standard software.
  • \n
  • Analyse traffic, travel behaviour, and accessibility data to support development proposals.
  • \n
  • Assist in the preparation of development planning strategies and technical reports.
  • \n
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams throughout project delivery.
  • \n
  • Attend client meetings, design team meetings, and discussions with local planning and highway authorities.
  • \n
  • Manage your workload to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • \n
  • Support the preparation of fee proposals and contribute to business development opportunities where appropriate.
  • \n
  • Keep up to date with relevant planning policy, transport guidance, and industry best practice.
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues while continuing to develop your technical and professional skills.

About You

\n

The successful candidate will have:

\n
    \n
  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning, or a related discipline.
  • \n
  • Approximately 2–7 years' experience in transport planning, preferably within a development planning consultancy.
  • \n
  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans.
  • \n
  • A good understanding of the UK planning system and relevant transport planning guidance.
  • \n
  • Experience using industry-standard transport planning software such as Junctions (PICADY, ARCADY, and LinSig), TRICS, and TEMPro.
  • \n
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • \n
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise technical reports.
  • \n
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • \n
  • A proactive, client-focused approach and a willingness to take ownership of project tasks.
  • \n

Desirable Skills

\n
    \n
  • Experience using GIS software.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of sustainable transport, active travel, and accessibility planning.
  • \n
  • Experience contributing to planning appeals or public consultation exercises.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of transport planning policy and development management across Yorkshire and the North of England.
  • \n
  • Working towards or holding membership of a relevant professional institution, such as CIHT or TPS.
  • \n
