Electrical Design Engineer – Water & Wastewater
\nUp to £60,000 + Benefits
\nWe’re recruiting an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a forward-thinking and growing engineering business delivering specialist projects across the UK water sector.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the design, development and delivery of electrical systems supporting wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.
\nAs an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to produce safe, efficient and fully compliant designs that integrate with mechanical, process and civil engineering requirements.
\nYour responsibilities will include:
\n• Producing SLDs, cable block diagrams, load schedules, termination drawings and cable schedules
\n• Developing detailed power distribution, control system and instrumentation designs
\n• Completing cable sizing, load, voltage-drop, fault-level and protection-coordination calculations
\n• Selecting and specifying MCCs, motors, VSDs and field instrumentation
\n• Ensuring designs comply with British Standards, WIMES and client specifications
\n• Developing control philosophies and interfacing with PLC and SCADA systems
\n• Participating in HAZOPs, design reviews and risk assessments
\n• Supporting procurement, manufacturing, installation and commissioning
\n• Reviewing supplier and subcontractor designs
\n• Conducting site surveys and supporting onsite testing and troubleshooting
\n• Providing technical input into project scopes and client quotations
\nThe successful Electrical Design Engineer will ideally have:
\n• An HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, with a degree advantageous
\n• City & Guilds 2382-22 – 18th Edition
\n• City & Guilds 2396 – Design, Erection and Verification
\n• Previous water, wastewater or related infrastructure experience
\n• Strong experience producing detailed electrical drawings and schedules
\n• Experience using Trimble Amtech and Autodesk 2D
\n• Knowledge of LV motor control centres and control-panel design
\n• IEng or CEng status would be advantageous but isn’t essential
